 Overall Job Function:

The agronomy sales intern assists the agronomist(s) in support activities and to maintain and proactively build long term, profitable relationships with customers while meeting the customers’ demands.   

 

Essential Job Functions:

Support activities for the agronomist including administrative work (work orders, inventory management) and any other activities with the objective of creating more sales time for the agronomist.

Technical agronomy support for the agronomist and core customer base including field scouting, sampling, and documented field diagnostics.

Operations support including product delivery, maintenance, and assistance in sheds or around the yard, along with any other necessary day to day operational work.

Attend key FCS meetings and trainings.

Assist other Agronomists and locations on an as needed basis.

Work in various areas and on various projects related to the agronomy department.

Participates in “special projects” when needed and other duties as assigned.

Secondary Responsibilities

Ability to operate and understand mobile equipment

Possess mechanical skills to perform minor maintenance tasks

Maintains a clean and safe working environment, attention to unloading / loading trucks and moving equipment

Ability to handle stressful situations professionally

Education & Experience:

Currently attending a college/vocational school, with area of study in agronomy or related field.

Work Requirements:

This position is based in a fast paced agricultural setting and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and vibrations. The employees is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles.  The noise level is usually moderate but occasionally may be loud.  PPE will be provided and must be utilized according to safety standards.  Typical working hours are based on customer and organizational demand; hours may be long, irregular and including weekends and holidays during peak season.

While performing job functions the employee will be required to talk and hear most of the time. The employee will spend frequent intervals moving and sitting, while also needing to reach, bend, twist, crawl, crouch, stoop or kneel.  The employee will need to be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and maneuver on and off a mobile equipment.  Ability of close, distant, color and peripheral vision is required; along with accurate depth perception.  The physicality of this job is high.
