We’re looking for a Dairy Farm Manager at Bassets Dairy Unit, a well-kitted out dairy farm just 20 minutes from Westport. 

 

You’ll have the full support of a Business Manager to help you settle into the role and assist in any areas where it’s needed such as financial reporting, planning or pasture management. 

 

We use ag tech such as Farmax and FarmIQ so familiarity with those software packages would be helpful but is not required.

 

You will be responsible for:

•        Day-to-day management of dairy operations

•        Leading, coaching and mentoring your team

•        Organising logistics and maintaining accurate data

•        Managing risks and solving problems as they arise

 

Located 10 minutes south of Westport, Bassets Dairy milk 1060 Kiwi Cross Cows using a 60-bail rotary with ACRs and Milk Hub. The farm is approximately 460 ha effective and 120 ha bush with rolling terrain and sandy soils. Bassets was recognised as a high performing farm and named Pāmu’s top dairy farm for the 2019/2020 season.

 

This is a unique opportunity to manage an award-winning dairy farm. It’s an ideal entry point for an experienced senior Dairy Farmer who wants to take over a well-run property and is motivated to mentor and develop the team. You will have excellent leadership capability, a willingness to learn new systems and you’ll value the same things we do people, animals, and the environment.

 

You will also have: 

·         Strong dairy farming experience

·         Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills

·         Ability to use farm management technology systems and record keeping equipment

·         Effective time and people management skills

·         First class attitude to Health and Safety, Animal Welfare and Environmental Management

·         Current and full NZ driver's licence
