Summary of Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesThere is flexibility in this position for either a crop or soil scientist/practitioner. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a course load of 12 hours per semester including courses such as Soil Science, Soil and Water Engineering, Soil Health, etc. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in agronomy and develop new courses that will enhance the current Agronomy curriculum. Public service and research activities, student advising, preparing student teams for competition, advising agronomy club, developing a positive rapport with regional agronomy firms required. Participates in research and scholarly activities, service on committees; support quality graduate programs, and HSOA. The successful candidate will be intricately involved with the university research farms as well as industry collaborations.Minimum Education RequirementsMasters in Agronomy or related field is required. Minimum Experience and Skill RequirementsDocumented successful teaching experience required.Preferred Education and/or Experience QualificationsPhD in Agronomy or related field is preferred. ABDs with a documented plan of completion by appointment date will be considered. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in and knowledge concerning cropping systems including corn, soybeans, tobacco, hemp, wheat and/or precision agriculture.
Note: If the successful candidate is master’s prepared, the position will be filled as a non-tenure track, instructor. If the successful candidate holds a terminal degree, the position will be filled as a tenure-track, assistant professor.
