Agronomy Operations Intern

 Overall Job Function:  

The Agronomy Operations Intern position at Farmers Coop Society is designed for students pursuing degrees in agriculture-related fields. This internship offers hands-on experience in agronomy operations, focusing on customer service and operational support within the Agronomy Operations sector. Interns will gain practical knowledge in various Agronomy Operations skills while contributing to the company's commitment to providing high-quality service to its customers.

Essential Job Functions:

Work alongside agronomy operations staff to safely deliver and distribute agronomy products

Perform preventative maintenance inspections to eliminate equipment downtime

Perform diagnostic, troubleshooting, and electrical work on various types of equipment

Assist with housekeeping and maintenance of facilities, roadways and rolling stock

Provide First Class Customer Service

Assist with in-season operations including seed duties, delivery, sorting, and product returns

Assist with inventory management and warehouse procedures

Engage in Real Life Work Experiences

Shadow custom applicators while performing

Assist with agronomy plant operations including but not limited to tender driving and in-the-field service calls

Attend Internship Networking/Development Opportunities

Attending training, professional development and continuing education opportunities.

Secondary Responsibilities: 

Understand DOT placarding and DOT hazardous rules.

Ability to operate and understand mobile equipment.

Possess mechanical skills to perform minor maintenance tasks on grain equipment and property.

Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a degree or certification from a community college, technical college or university

You are in good academic standing   

A satisfactory driving record.

Work Requirements:

This position is based in a fast-paced agricultural setting and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and vibrations. The employees are occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate but occasionally may be loud. PPE will be provided and must be utilized according to safety standards. Typical working hours are based on customer and organizational demand; hours may be long, irregular and include weekends and holidays during peak season.

While performing job functions the employee will be required to talk and hear most of the time. The employee will spend frequent intervals moving and sitting, while also needing to reach, bend, twist, crawl, crouch, stoop or kneel. The employee will need to be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and maneuver on and off mobile equipment. Ability of close, distant, color and peripheral vision is required, along with accurate depth perception. The physicality of this job is high.
