Position Function:
To assist in supervision of farm operation, equipment and shop maintenance. To perform farm and research related duties as assigned by the Farm Supervisor.
Salary Grade: 11

Anticipated Appointment Date:
March 2025.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Land preparation, planting, cultivating, and application of pesticides.
2. Apply and supervise the application of pesticides utilizing computerized spray equipment.
3. Maintenance of farm equipment.
4. Calibrate pesticide applicators, planters, etc.
5. Assist in the purchase of supplies.
6. Assist the farm supervisor with farm records.
7. Assist with pesticide application and storage records.
8. Collect harvest data from all research plots utilizing computerized harvesting equipment.
9. Operate and maintain the satellite guidance system (RTK) for all land preparation activities.
10. Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Three years experience in general farm work setting.
Licensure: Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Field research plot experience.
2. Supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to follow instructions.
Knowledge of farm practices.
Skill in maintaining farm equipment.
Ability to operate farm equipment.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
1. Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
2. Light physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
3. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
4. Operation of various types of heavy machinery may be hazardous. Exposure to pesticides and hazardous waste materials. Exposure to extreme weather conditions.
