Metz Potato Company, LLC is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Farm Hand to join our family farm. The ideal candidate will assist with daily farm operations, crop maintenance, and general farm upkeep. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.  Someone with previous farm or diesel mechanic experience is a plus, but is not required.

Farm Laborer

Job Summary:

The Farm Laborer will perform various tasks related to farming and agriculture, including planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops.

Duties: Farm Laborer duties may include the following responsibilities but not limited to: 

• Operate heavy equipment such as tractors, combines, and irrigation systems.
• Perform a variety of tasks with equipment to prepare the land for planting, cultivation and harvesting crops.
• Assist with the maintenance and repair of farm machinery and equipment.
• Perform heavy lifting and manual labor as required.
• Use power tools and hand tools to complete tasks.
• Perform ditch cleaning, including burning weeds and pitching trash.
• Apply herbicides to control weeds around all properties.
• Inspect each vehicle prior to operation to ensure safety.
• Load and unload trucks as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the farm and storage areas.
• Maintain maintenance logs and document and deliver receipts daily.
• Monthly Pest Control inspections and documentation.
• Understand/follow written and verbal instructions.
• Attend monthly crew meetings to ensure awareness of changing policies or updated rules and procedures.
• Must provide own tools

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical labor for extended periods of time.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and 100 pounds occasionally
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions without temperature or other environmental controls.
• Physically able to stand, sit, move, squat, walk and climb during the course of the shift.
