Farm Manager  

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Responsible for the basic crop delivery for the site to ensure the advancement of the pipeline.  

  • Act in a supervisory capacity and direct the farm team for all daily farm operational activities based upon business priorities.  

  • Collaborate with Crop Production Lead on decisions of agronomic practices applied. 

  • Collaborate with Crop Production Lead to ensure any issues are addressed early. 

  • Collaborate with agronomist/IPM tech on any chemigation, spray applications and nutrient specific changes needed for crop health.  

  • Direct the work for all tractor operations based on business priorities (groundwork, field preparation, planting and destruction.)  

  • Directly assess moisture levels of each trial and make decisions on timing and amounts of water to apply.  

  • Address any issues with irrigation system, equipment, infrastructure by collaborating with site to implement repairs immediately to ensure an uninterrupted workflow.  

  • Attend and complete all required safety trainings on time.  

  • Understand and adhere to all safety requirements for the task at hand as well as the general safety rules for the site. As a supervisor or crew lead make sure all people are adhering to SOP's and JSA’s 

  • Ensure all people have access to any PPE that is required. Follow all Bayer and OSHA guidelines for safe work including but not limited to WPS. Fully understand and be able to react in compliance with our station Emergency Action Plan  

  • Report all near miss, safety suggestions and incidents IMMIDIATLY through the proper channels (manger/HSE Tech)  

  • Adhere to Bayer policies including professional code of conduct.  

  • Maintain an open line of communication with all stakeholders and partners.  

 

 

WHO YOU ARE 

  

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: 

  

Required Qualifications: 

  • HS Diploma with minimum 10 years’ experience managing crops in an open field environment 

  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams to achieve common goals.  

  • Ability to influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities, partners with key stakeholders on solutions.  

  • Results orientation with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously.  

  • Must have excellent written and spoken communication skills and the ability to listen and adapt to feedback.  

  • Maintain pesticide applicators license. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • BS with minimum of 5 years relevant experience managing crops in an open field environment 

  • MS with minimum of 2 years relevant experience managing crops in an open field environment 

  • Ability to speak Spanish  

 

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $72,370 to $108,554. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
