Enchanted Farms is seeking a dedicated, proactive individual to join our team as a Farm Tour Guide with Animal Care, Retail, & Mobile Event Duties. This full-time role combines leading farm tours, caring for animals, managing retail operations, and assisting with off-site events. While this position includes a variety of responsibilities, owners and other staff will provide support as needed to ensure a balanced workload.

Responsibilities

Farm Tours & Guest Experiences

• Lead public and private tours, introducing guests to alpacas, sheep, rabbits, and other animals.

• Provide engaging, educational commentary about the animals, their care, and the farm’s history.

• Host special events like birthday parties or “Picnics with Alpacas,” ensuring guests have a safe and memorable experience.

• Communicate and enforce farm safety rules to protect both guests and animals.

Animal Care & Facility Maintenance

• Feed and water animals on assigned days.

• Clean and maintain animal enclosures, stalls, and guest areas (owners/staff will assist as needed).

• Monitor animal health and behavior, promptly reporting any issues (e.g., unusual behavior, injuries, or health concerns) to owners.

• Maintain clean fields and pastures by regularly removing waste and debris.

• Perform weekly cleaning of water containers and light landscaping tasks (e.g., weed removal).

• Monitor inventory of animal feed and supplies, alerting owners when restocking is needed.

Herd Health & Birthing Assistance

• Assist with herd health and birthing if needed.

• While owners handle most birthing responsibilities and provide training, animals may deliver prematurely or go past due dates, requiring occasional support.

• Provide assistance such as bottle feeding, administering medication, or basic birthing care as instructed.

• Be prepared to contact veterinarians if necessary and follow owners’ guidance in emergencies.

• Training will be provided for all tasks related to herd health and birthing.

Farm Store Operations

• Use Shopify POS to process credit card transactions (no cash handling required).

• Assist customers with purchases and provide information about items.

• Maintain a clean, organized store environment and restock and potentially tag products as needed.

Mobile Markets & Petting Zoo Events

• Load and drive the farm-provided van to transport animals and supplies to off-site events (valid driver’s license required).

• Set up and manage mobile petting zoos, ensuring the safety and comfort of both animals and guests.

• Engage with the public at events, answering questions and sharing information about the farm.

• Use Shopify POS to process sales of farm products and maintain accurate transaction records.

• Keep the van clean after use as instructed.

Light Farm Maintenance

• Use the tractor once a week to rotate compost piles and assist with maintaining the compost area (training provided if needed).

• Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as fence checks or repairs.

• Ensure all areas of the farm, including fields, barns, and guest spaces, are clean, safe, and presentable.

Work Expectations

• Full-Time Role: This is a full-time position, typically requiring 35–40 hours per week.

• Core Workdays: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are mandatory workdays due to high guest traffic and events.

• Flexible Scheduling: Employees will have the opportunity to select additional shifts on weekdays (Monday through Thursday) to complete their full-time hours. Scheduling preferences will be honored whenever possible, based on operational needs.

• Independent Work: This position requires the ability to work independently during portions of your shifts. While direct supervision may not always be present, the owners will remain available for support and guidance as needed.

• Trial Period: All new hires will undergo a 30-day trial period to evaluate performance, reliability, and fit for the role. During this time:

• Training and support will be provided to ensure success.

• Employees will be evaluated on their ability to work independently, follow instructions, and perform tasks accurately.

• Continued employment after the trial period will be based on performance evaluations and mutual agreement.

Qualifications

• Driver’s License Required: Must have a valid driver’s license for driving the farm-provided van to mobile events.

• Experience using point-of-sale systems (Shopify POS preferred, but training provided).

• Strong communication and public speaking skills; confident leading groups of all sizes.

• Detail-oriented with the ability to notice and report issues (e.g., animal health concerns or low inventory).

• Physically fit and able to handle labor-intensive tasks such as cleaning, feeding, and setting up events.

• Prior experience with animals, customer service, or farm operations is helpful but not required (training provided).

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly Rate: $20–$25/hour, based on experience and qualifications.
