Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Seed Corn Production Agronomist to be based at one of our Reinbeck, Dysart or Toledo, IA corn production facility. As the Production Agronomist, you’ll be responsible for safe, effective, and efficient management of field seed production processes. Utilize your communication skills to establish and build relationships with growers, contractors, and vendors. Strategic thinking and analysis are critical as you will be responsible for the oversight of acreage planning, strategy, education and resource allocation for field activities. 


This role will be on-site at either our Reinbeck, Dysart or Toledo, IA locations.

  • Develop cost effective, environmentally sound methods of enhancing yields.
  • Keep abreast of current agronomic practices, government agricultural programs, and environmental issues related to all phases of seed production.
  • Work in accordance with government certifying agencies to assure all standards are met.
  • Be involved in all aspects of grower relations, including but not limited to acreage allocations, contracts, and conflict resolution within designated territory.
  • Management of commercial seed production fields, and employees engaged in field operating tasks.
  • Manage seasonal/annual field related activities.
  • Participate in strategic planning, safety, quality, and workforce issues for production employees.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining relationships with growers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Serve as technical expert across a broad range of production activity.
  • Meet targeted yields and other planning parameters agreed upon with Production Management and Quality Planning and Supply Planning.
  • Develop a growing plan, review grower/field information, determine local acreage plans, and adjusting to any plan updates.
  • Establish and support individual and team performance goals that are attainable and aligned with business strategy.
  • Ability to work and manage flexible hours and days during specific critical busy seasons of the year.
  • Sponsor projects, team members, timelines, and deliverables to ensure productivity objectives are met.

 

 Requirements:


What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

  • Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, agribusiness or related discipline.
  • 2 years or more of experience in agronomy, field science, agribusiness, or other related field.
  • Possess seedsmanship skills and general product knowledge.
  • A valid U.S driver's license in good standing.
  • Organization and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities. 
  • Possess skills to meet time deadlines in multi-faceted environments.
  • Develop and sustain High-Performing work teams.
  • Computer Skills (office suite products) 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Produce a high yielding quality crop year in and year out while engaging in company safety standards.
  • Passionate about agronomy and row crop management.

 

Preferences:

  • Grower relations skills and experience.
  • Knowledge of specific crop contracts, specific crop quality plans, location field safety programs.
