Production Agronomy Technician

This position assists the Production Location Agronomist and/or Corn Grower Managers in the areas of agronomics, seed field operations, grower/operator relations, and quality control. Non-growing season responsibilities include assisting with winter production activities, harvest operations processing, warehousing, and other related activities.

Responsibilities
- Scout corn, soybean, and wheat production acres for weeds, insects, diseases, nutrient deficiencies and other agronomic conditions affecting the crop
- Assist Production Location Agronomist and/or Corn Grower Manager by creating solutions for agronomic issues discovered
- Assist with delivery and organization of seedstock.
- Inspect and manage seed corn fields during flowering for quality assurance.
- Evaluate seed corn fields for potential yield
- Assist with leading and developing interns and other seasonal production employees.
- Assist the Corn Grower Manager with communication and providing direction for seed growers, at locations with contract growers.
- May be required to operate farm equipment
- May assist with plating, detasseling, fall seed harvest husk, sort, drying and shelling operations
- May assist in warehouse, shipping, and processing departments
- Perform other related duties as may be required by the Production Location Manager, Corn Grower Manager, or Production Location Agronomist
Job Requirements
Education and training:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Agronomics or related agricultural field
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record as determined by Beck’s automobile insurance policy
Technical knowledge:
- Basic computer and current software skills (Microsoft Excel)
- Personal time management skills
- CDL or equivalent preferred

Travel and hours work:
- Overnight travel may be required based on project needs at Beck’s regional locations and may vary in duration of time
Physical demands:
- May be required to lift up to 70 pounds unassisted
- May be required to pass respiratory medical clearance evaluation
- Ability to pass DOT physical examination and obtain Medical Examiner’s Certificate may be required
Experience:
- Previous experience in the agronomics industry
