Queen Bee Packaging and Logistics Coordinator

ROLE OVERVIEW:

This role is a dynamic combination of hands-on queen packaging, basic beekeeping, and customer service support. It plays a vital role in ensuring the health and successful sale of queen bees, packages, nucs and other related products for Honey Bee Genetics/Tauzer Apiaries. Livestock, agriculture and/or prior beekeeping experience or exposure is required.

The position includes key organizational tasks to support overall company logistics. Variable weekly goals and tasks will be assigned to help maintain productivity across the operation. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Queen Handling and Packaging
  • Handle bees and queens in preparation for packing and shipping.
  • Maintain queen banks, ensuring the health and safety of queen bees.
  • Prepare materials and supplies for shipments.
• Inventory Management
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of queen bee supplies, shipping materials, and equipment.
  • Assist in ordering and restocking supplies as needed.
• Quality Assurance
  • Inspect queens and packaging materials to ensure they meet quality standards before shipping.
  • Maintain health and care standards for bees in queen banks.
• Customer Communication
  • Address customer inquiries related to orders, shipping schedules, or queen availability professionally and promptly.
  • Assist in resolving customer complaints or issues with queen shipments.
• Collaboration and Coordination
  • Coordinate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak queen shipping seasons.
  • Work closely with the Director of Brands and Outreach to align logistics tasks with organizational goals.
• Farm Operations Assistance
  • Support maintenance and cleaning of bee hive boxes and equipment used for queen banks.
  • Assist with tasks to maintain cleanliness and functionality of the queen packing area.
• Record-Keeping
  • Accurately maintain records of queen shipments, customer orders, and weekly tasks.
  • Update logs related to queen production and packaging to ensure data accuracy.
• Training and Safety Compliance
  • Participate in safety training sessions and adhere to workplace safety guidelines.
  • Contribute to the training of seasonal staff or new hires during busy periods.
• Problem-Solving
  • Identify logistical or operational challenges and work proactively to find solutions.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to queen packaging or shipping processes.
• Administrative Support
  • Perform general administrative tasks as needed to support the team.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

• Must be computer literate and proficient in English required; bilingual English-Spanish considered an asset
• Ability to communicate effectively in-person or by phone in a manner that can be clearly understood by customers and colleagues, including a diverse population of individuals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Ability to operate office equipment, including e.g. copiers, packaging supply. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, with frequent walking and carrying loads. Requires a moderate level of mobility, dexterity, and flexibility in order to perform essential functions. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, reach with hands and arms, and to lift 65 lbs. Hearing and close vision abilities required. Work is performed in an office and farm environment with moderate equipment noise.

SALARY & BENEFITS

Full Time - Hourly Non-Exempt Position

$18-$22/hr *rate dependent on experience
