Summary/Objective

Accountable for overseeing the day-to-day operations of El Zacate and San Cristobal ranches. These ranches are located outside of Floresville and Boerne Texas. The Ranch Manager will help improve internal processes at both locations, to maximize efficiencies. They will play a critical role in budgeting, cattle health and nutrition, land management, CapEx planning, KPI reporting, record keeping, and people management. They will be crucial in the growth of the company, both financially and with associate development. 

Essential Functions

Operational Management: 

• Forecast and communicate expenses for budget planning. 
• Oversee contractors working on capital expenditure projects.
• Develop and forecast nutrition plans for both ranches.
• Work with consultants to formulate health and nutrition plans.
• Coordinate winter pasture and fertilizer plans for El Zacate
• Assist with shipping and receiving timelines for both ranches.

Cattle Management:

• Processing of incoming cattle and revaccination of cattle on grass
• Great communication with management about cattle health and performance
• Adhere to Quality Beef Assurance Handling Guidelines.

Ranch Improvement:

• Work with management in rolling 5-year CapEx plans.
• Maximize efficiencies for irrigation systems at El Zacate
• All planning revolves around increasing head capacity at both ranches.
• On-going, general clean-up around HQ at El Zacate. 

Accounting:

• Develop accurate breakeven for cattle.
• Cost allocation for groups of cattle
• Performance projections for preconditioning and grazing cattle. 

Supervisory Responsibility

• 2 direct reports
• Possible seasonal and contract workers

Physical Demands

• Be able to work in outdoor weather conditions.
• Carry or lift, up to 75 pounds.
• Be in constant communication with various team members.

Required Education and Experience

• Highschool Diploma
• Undergraduate Degree in Animal Science, Ag Business/Eco, or another Ag Field is required. 
• Must have at least 3 years cattle handling experience.
